Interview with Dr.Smith
This Leadership Interview process was one of many adjustments. For example, i lost the first tape-recorded interview and had to email my interviewee the questions because she was now in China. Well, Paula has yet to return my interview questions answered to me. So, at the last minute, I had to interview my previous asst. principal, Dr. Karen Smith. Now, although she was not my original choice i did learn some things about leadership from her. After the interview was over, and i had time to reflect on the interview, i realized that although she was recognized as a leader in the community, Dr. Smith did not view herself as a leader. Dr. Smith informed me during the interview that she saw herself as a servant. When i asked what she meant by this, Dr.Smith replied, that her job was to serve her students, teachers, and the community. She also stated, that although being a leader is important, she felt that her job was not all about being called a leader, but she felt it was more important to lead and guide her students and teachers in such a way that they themselves would become successful leaders .
